Community & Performance

As well as teaching, I perform and I encourage my students to perform too, together and individually. I have an ongoing programme of community events in which I support local organisations and charities through music performance events. This is a double win – my students and choir het an opportunity to perform and the community benefits from wonderful concerts. In these events young and old will perform together with mutual respect.

Through my work in schools, the creation of other groups has been a large part of my musical life for decades. Whether it’s putting on a show or performing as a band, I love to create connections through music and, I hope, inspire my students to continue to play and learn long after they have left a school environment.

Performance is something that I enjoy too. My vocal interest lies in opera and the full range of twentieth century vocal repertoire. My piano repertoire is an appealing combination of contemporary film, popular, show and classical music.

Recent performances include:

  • Cole Porter Songs at Murton Institute Cumbria
  • Schumann Songs at St Andrews Church, Edinburgh (Edinburgh Fringe)
  • Operatic Highlights at Higham Hall, Bassenthwaite (Encore Opera Group)

I have also been honoured to perform at weddings and ceremonies across Cumbria and beyond. We have a wonderful network of rural wedding venues in Upper Eden and it is a pleasure to be part of a couple’s special day. Please get in touch if you would like the personal approach of a professional singer and musician as part of your wedding.
